HARARE, ZIMBABWE – 19 October 2018 – Under the leadership of Mr. Kenneth Chinovumburuka Maregere, Zimbabwe will join nations in North America, South America, Africa, Asia, and Africa in observing International Men’s Day  which will be observed on 19 November 2018 under the theme “Renewing Our Commitment To Men And Boys . . . Building A Better World For Everyone”. Additionally, Mr. Maregere has been tapped to serve as Zimbabwe’s Coordinator for “World Day Of The Boy Child” which is observed on 16 May of each year. Mr. Maregere is a Lecturer on Public Policy at the Africa University Faculty of Management and Administration (www.african.edu) in Harare, Zimbabwe. He is also a Training Consultant at the Zimbabwe Institute of Public Administration and Management (www.zipam.ac.za) in Norton in Zimbabwe.

Inaugurated on 19 November 1999 in Trinidad and Tobago by Gender Issues Thought Leader, faculty member in the History Department of the University of West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, and prolific author Jerome Teelucksingh, Ph.D., International Men’s Day celebrates and honors the contributions and selfless sacrifices that Men – ordinary Men – make to our families, our communities, and our world. Inaugurated in May of 2018, “World Day Of The Boy Child” responds to the urgent need for the world to improve the manner in which it addresses and resolves the prevalent inferiority complex and academic underachievement of boys and protects them from negative influences of a turbulent social environment as they make their journey from childhood to manhood.

Individuals, organizations, and institutions in Zimbabwe wishing to promote awareness for and participate in the observance of International Men’s Day and “World Day Of The Boy Child”, should contact Mr. Kenneth Chinovumburuka by sending an e-mail to: kenniemaregere@gmail.com.
